Feeding Hope: Nourishing Our Neighbors with Catholic Charities

Feeding Hope: The Investment Behind Nourishing Our Neighbors

The Beacon

Every day at Catholic Charities, food becomes the first step toward stability. For many of the individuals and families we serve, a nutritious meal is not guaranteed — and without it, everything else becomes harder: keeping a job, managing a medical condition, learning in school, recovering from homelessness, or aging safely at home. Through Nourishing Our Neighbors, we ensure people have access to consistent, healthy food whether they walk through the doors of The Beacon, attend our Adult Day Center, visit the Catholic Multicultural Center pantry, or rely on our Mobile Food Pantries across rural and urban communities. Often this is the only meal someone will eat that day. Other times, it is the difference that allows a parent or senior to afford rent, medication, or utilities while remaining  safely housed.

The impact is tangible. In 2025 alone, our Mobile Food Pantries served more than 12,000 unduplicated individuals, reaching families who would otherwise go without. The Beacon provided over 54,000 lunches to neighbors experiencing homelessness, offering not just food but dignity and human connection. Our Adult Day Center served more than 12,200 meals, carefully planned to support medical and cognitive health, and the Catholic Multicultural Center distributed over 139,000 pounds of food to immigrant and low-income households working to build stability in a new community. ADD 5 DOOR STAT. Each meal is more than nourishment — it is prevention. It keeps children learning, seniors healthier, adults working, and vulnerable neighbors from falling deeper into crisis.

To sustain this essential work, Catholic Charities must raise $783,453 to provide food across all programs in the coming year. This investment is not simply about meals; it is about preserving independence, strengthening families, and restoring hope. When our community supports Nourishing Our Neighbors, they are ensuring that hunger never stands between a person and their next step forward. Together, we are not only feeding people — we are feeding possibilities.
