Enhancing Care, Connection, and Dignity at the Adult Day Center
Catholic Charities’ Adult Day Center (ADC) provides compassionate, structured support for adults aged 18 and older throughout the Madison metropolitan area who are living with medical conditions, cognitive or developmental disabilities, physical limitations, or Alzheimer’s and other memory loss conditions. Designed to offer both care and community, the program provides participants with a safe and engaging environment where they can connect with others, participate in recreational activities led by trained staff, and enjoy a nutritious lunch that supports their health and well-being. With an affordable daily rate, the Adult Day Center also offers families peace of mind while helping individuals remain active, supported, and socially connected.

Over the past year, Catholic Charities has begun a phased enhancement of the Adult Day Center to better serve the diverse needs of participants. The program now includes three specialized focus areas: Memory Care, Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities programming, and Older Adult programming, allowing staff to tailor services and activities to the unique needs of each group. As part of this enhancement, the space has been updated with new, comfortable furnishings designed to create a warmer, more welcoming environment. The goal was to move away from a clinical feel and instead create a setting that feels more like home—functional, comfortable, and inviting for those who spend their days there.
A highlight of the newly enhanced Memory Care space is the addition of interactive life stations—purposeful activity areas that encourage engagement through familiar tasks and experiences. These stations help individuals tap into long-term muscle memory, which research shows can reduce agitation, anxiety, and wandering for those living with memory loss. The space also features cityscape artwork depicting familiar Madison scenes, helping participants reconnect with places and memories that hold meaning in their lives.
This transformation has been made possible through the generous partnership and support of EUA and Vogel Brothers, whose expertise helped bring the vision for the enhanced space to life. Catholic Charities is also deeply grateful to Dollie F. Newlun – Legacy Gift, Bader Philanthropies and the Oscar Rennebohm Foundation for their generous support of the project. An official opening and blessing of the enhanced Adult Day Center will take place on April 13, 2026, celebrating our continued commitment to providing dignified, person-centered care for adults in our community.
