MADISON, WI — Catholic Charities of Madison is pleased to welcome Geoff McCloskey as our new Director of Finance. Geoff brings more than two decades of finance and operational leadership in mission-driven organizations.
Geoff grew up on Madison’s east side, where he was active at St. Dennis Parish and school. He graduated from Sun Prairie High School and the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Today, he and his family belong to St. Albert the Great Parish, where he has served as a parish trustee and member of the Finance Committee. Faith and community have helped shape every chapter of his life, including this one.
Geoff’s career has been spent primarily in service to universities, hospitals, and philanthropic foundations. He spent a decade with the Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association, which raises and manages philanthropic support for the University of Wisconsin. Joining in 2012 as Senior Director of Finance and Controller, he was named Chief Financial Officer in 2015 and Chief Operating Officer in 2021.
In 2022, Geoff joined Hoag Hospital Foundation in Newport Beach, California, as Senior Vice President of Finance and Advancement Services. When the foundation entered a leadership transition in 2023, he was asked to serve as interim chair of the Office of the President, a role he held through 2024 and a measure of the trust he had earned there. Geoff returned to Madison in 2026 to spend more time with family and friends and to explore meaningful opportunities to support his home community.
Ask Geoff about his work, though, and he talks about people far more than he does about numbers. He has led organizational strategy and transformation efforts, built and recruited strong teams, and worked to create cultures where employees feel valued and want to be part of them. He brings an energetic, hands-on leadership style, a love of teaching others, and a commitment to never stop learning himself.
Over the years, Geoff often considered combining his passion for faith and philanthropy.
“Working for Catholic Charities is something I thought about often, having shared that thought with friends and acquaintances who were somehow affiliated over the years,” Geoff said. “This organization reflects the values I was raised with and have tried to live by. To serve here, in my own community, means a great deal to me, especially at this stage of my career.”
