Volunteer Opportunities
at the Adult Day Center
Are you looking for a fun and positive opportunity for yourself, family, school, or company staff?
We welcome volunteers interested in assisting older adults, individuals with dementia, and adults with disabilities.
Here are some of the available opportunities:
Participant Greeters
This opportunity is available Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. The Participant Greeter may be one of the first people our participants see when they arrive at our center. Saying “Hello”, accompanying participants into the day center, assisting participants with hanging up their coats, serving a morning snack and casual conversation are all things you may see the Participant Greeter doing.
Day Center Assistants
This opportunity is available Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The Day Center Assistant assists with setting up, serving, and cleaning up during our lunch hour. Accompanying Participants to and from lunch, as well as engaging in casual conversation, are also everyday tasks for Day Center Assistants.
Activity Assistants
This opportunity is available Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Volunteer Activity Assistants can do a variety of things, depending on their interests. We have separated our volunteer Activity Assistants into four categories. Our volunteers may assist in one category, or as many as all four! Volunteer Activity Assistants may:
- Work with one participant at a time: helping a participant navigate the internet or send an email, playing games, reading, tutoring, and enjoying conversation.
- Work with a small group of participants: playing cards, going for a short walk, and playing games.
- Work with a large group of participants: assisting Catholic Charities staff facilitate a group, or facilitating their own special group of interest.
- Sharing a special talent with our participants such as: musical skills, dancing, storytelling, discussions/presentations about travels or hobbies.
