Care & Services
Adult Day Center
Purpose & Identity
The Catholic Charities ADC provides a safe, supportive daytime environment that promotes social interaction, meaningful engagement, and personalized care. We help individuals maintain independence and quality of life while offering families reliable respite and support. The ADC bridges the gap between independent living and full-time residential care, allowing participants to stay in their homes and communities as long as possible.
Who We Serve
The Adult Day Center serves adults 18 and older who live in the Madison metropolitan area and are looking for a safe, engaging daytime environment with professional care and support.
To be eligible for our program, individuals must:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Need ongoing support services, daily supervision, and/or structured activity to remain independent in the community
- Be mobile, either unaided or with assistive devices, including wheelchairs
- Be free of communicable diseases that would be detrimental to other participants
- Be able to participate in a group setting without posing a risk to themselves or others
We serve individuals with guardianship or those in the process of establishing guardianship. The language above reflects the eligibility criteria required by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services for certified adult day programs. If you have questions about whether the program is a good fit for your loved one, we encourage you to call us or schedule a tour — we’re happy to talk through your situation.
Getting Started
Enrolling at the Adult Day Center is a straightforward process. We walk alongside families every step of the way.
Step 1: Reach OUt
Contact our Care Supervisor, Kristin Hutson, to ask questions or schedule a tour. You can reach her by phone at (608) 826-8106 or by email at khutson@ccmadison.org.
Step 2: Take a Tour
A formal tour typically lasts about two hours and gives you and your loved one the chance to see the facility, meet the staff, and participate in the program firsthand. Tours are offered at set times: 9:45–11:00 a.m. and 12:15–2:00 p.m. Informal tours are also available based on staff availability.
Step 3: Complete Enrollment
Once you’ve decided to enroll, Kristin will guide you through the paperwork and help identify a weekly schedule, transportation options, and any special needs. Because enrollment includes a physician’s medical form, timelines can vary depending on how quickly that documentation is returned. We don’t rush the process — we want to make sure everything is in place for a smooth first day.
Step 4: Your Personalized Care Plan
Within 30 days of enrollment, we develop a personalized care plan together with the participant, their family or caregivers, and our ADC team. The plan reflects each person’s functional abilities, health needs, preferences, interests, and goals. Care plans are reviewed and updated every six months, or more frequently if needs change.

Activities & Recreation
At the Adult Day Center, every day includes opportunities to connect, create, move, and engage. Activity programming is tailored to the needs and interests of our participants, with individual, small-group, and large-group options available throughout the day.
Activities are designed to be fail-free — adapted as needed so everyone can participate. Participants are always welcome to decline any activity, and staff will make every effort to find something meaningful for each person. Activity interest surveys are conducted every six months to keep programming fresh and person-centered.
Our programming includes:
- Physical: exercise, outdoor walks, active games, adapted sports
- Cognitive: trivia, book club, discussion groups, puzzles, reminiscence
- Creative: arts and crafts, baking, sensory activities
- Social: bingo, card and board games, community presentations, music and entertainment

Transportation
The Adult Day Center does not provide transportation to and from the center. Participants are responsible for arranging their own transportation for daily attendance.
For participants enrolled through a managed care organization or waiver program, transportation is typically coordinated through their MCO or funding source. For privately paying participants, our Care Supervisor can provide a list of local transportation companies commonly used by our families during the enrollment process.
For community outings, transportation is provided by the Adult Day Center using our minibus and trained staff. There is no additional transportation fee for outings.
At the Catholic Charities Adult Day Center, we’re experts in crafting joy. From engaging arts and crafts sessions to lively BINGO games and delightful outings, we infuse every day with fun and excitement. Discover the vibrant life that awaits you at our center.
