Community, Connection, and Growth at Walt Lindemann Sportsman's Park
A group from Community Connections spent the afternoon at Walt Lindemann Sportsman’s Park in Janesville, WI, trading the indoor space for sunshine, open grounds, and a chance to see the resident deer up close.
Outings like this are central to how Community Connections operates. Alongside the guests and partners who bring programming to the facility, community outings are one of the program’s core tools for cultivating connection, building social skills, and supporting the kind of growth that helps participants live more independently. Each week, participants spend part of their time at parks, museums, the occasional restaurant, and gathering spots across Rock County, becoming more familiar with the places, the routines, and the people that make up daily life in Janesville.
On this outing to Sportsman’s Park, the group played outdoor games, walked the grounds, and stopped by the deer pen, spending the afternoon together at an unhurried pace.
