Catholic Charities chosen as the operator of the day resource center for the homeless in Madison, Wisconsin.
The day resource center will play a significant role in the fight against homelessness. The number of men, women, and children who are homeless in Madison continues to be disturbing. Each year about 3,500 people in Dane County experience homelessness, nearly half of them are children. This project is a collaboration of the faith, business, nonprofit, government, and neighborhood communities – all working towards reducing homelessness. The County, City, and United Way are all funders of this project, and so is Catholic Charities. We are committed to raising $150,000 each year to make this a reality.
Services being offered will align with the layout of the building and create an environment that allows the people we serve to feel warm, welcome, safe and respected. Laundry facilities, showers, mail, storage, case management, and more will be available at the center.
