Caring for the Artist Within
Connie was so exhausted caring for others she could scarcely function. Her life was consumed caring for her husband and a son born with severe disabilities. She was depressed when she came to the agency for therapy. Connie gradually learned to set limits on what she can do for her family. By practicing self-care, she has gained a new sense of worth and has resumed her love of art.
Conquering Her Fears
While in jail for using and selling drugs, Lori told the “Beginnings“ group how she had been assaulted while in her 20's, how angry she still was about the assault and how scared she is out in the world. The group helped her work through her fear and gave suggestions on how to find help for her drug and alcohol addictions. Now, weekly sessions with a therapist are helping conquer Lori's fear and the addictions it triggered.
