Community Connections has volunteer opportunities in our leisure day program for adults with developmental disabilities. As a volunteer, you would work with our staff to assist program participants with daily community integration or with leisure skills at our program. This could mean one day you go to the park and to the movies the next. Explore your talents for arts and crafts on a Wednesday and celebrate football season on a Friday! Elder Mentor
Aging Services is continually looking for compassionate people to share their time and talents with elder adults in Dane County.
Volunteers in the Elder Mentor program offer assistance, advice, and information to elder persons living in their own home. This may include balancing checkbooks, companionship and running errands. A volunteer's area of expertise, talent and/or experience is matched with the needs of an elder person. A commitment of two to four hours a month is ideal.
Through the Elder Mentor program volunteers help to support seniors who have made the choice to continue living in their own homes. These programs strive to enhance the dignity, independence and self-respect of elder persons to the extent possible with the goal of helping elder adults remain in the community. Ongoing trusting relationships are essential to the integrity of the program; therefore, long-term commitment is encouraged.
Spend part of a Saturday or Sunday providing seasonal assistance inside or outside the home of an elder person. A great group or family activity. To print a Volunteer Application please click here. This form is not fillable online. Please print the form, complete, and mail to Jean Mueller located at 426 S. Yellowstone Drive, Suite #100, Madison, WI 53719. You may also call (608) 833-4800.
Recreation Programs
Do you love to have fun and spend time with others? The Catholic Charities Recreation Programs plan and coordinate fun social events for adults with developmental disabilities. Volunteers are utilized to provide supervision and assistance to program participants as they bowl, fish, swim, play cards, dance, or do other fun activities. The number of participants at an event can range from 5 to 75, and volunteers definitely enhance the participants’ experiences. All activities are community based and take place in the evenings or on week-ends.

Supportive Living Program
Play board and card games, go fishing, cook a meal, run a errand, be a friend, go to a movie or out to eat, discuss sports, politics, or religion.
If you enjoy any of these activities, the Supportive Living Program (SLP) has a wonderful volunteer opportunity for you. SLP provides services to individuals with traumatic brain injury. What is a traumatic brain injury? Many brain injuries are the result of motor vehicle accidents. Whatever the cause, a brain injury can often result in enduring physical, emotional, intellectual, and social changes. Survivors of brain injury often must "start all over". A few hours of your time can be instrumental in helping to rebuild their life. Adult volunteers only.
An example of a volunteer opportunity: Mary is a 36-year-old woman with a brain injury. She lives on the far west side of Madison. She is in need of someone to provide transportation to her swimming class (also on west side) on Tuesday and/or Thursday afternoons. Also, Mary would enjoy a companion to go out to lunch with or help with errands. Call (608) 833-4800 for more information.
Individual orientation, training and ongoing support is provided to all volunteers.
