Volunteers enable us to economically carry out our mission by assisting staff and participating in our programs. Volunteers are required to complete a background check before working for Catholic Charities.
Adult Day Center
Our Adult Day Center supports adults in maintaining independence for living in their own home and community. We provide daily opportunities for people age 18+ who have medical conditions, physical disabilities, cognitive concerns, Alzheimer’s or other memory loss conditions - to socialize, participate in fun activities, and receive care during the day; while their primary caregiver can take care of chores, remain employed, or have some rest and relaxation.
The center is open M-F from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and we need volunteers to be greeters and to assist staff with recreational activities and events for our members. Please contact Nichole Kraemer at (608) 826-8106 or email firstname.lastname@example.org if you interested or would like more information.
Adult Residential Living
Play board and card games, go fishing, cook a meal, run an errand, be a friend, go to a movie or out to eat, discuss sports, politics, or religion. If you enjoy any of these activities we have wonderful volunteer opportunities for you with our Adult Residential Living program. We provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities or traumatic brain injury. What is a traumatic brain injury? Many brain injuries are the result of motor vehicle accidents. Whatever the cause, a brain injury can often result in enduring physical, emotional, intellectual, and social changes. Survivors of brain injury often must "start all over." A few hours of your time can be instrumental in helping to rebuild their life. Adult volunteers only please.
If you are interested in volunteering for this program please call Kris Dambach at (608) 826-8030 or email email@example.com for more information.
Bethel Day Resource Center Partnership
A day resource center for the homeless is open now M-F and we could use your help! Are you a people person? We are currently looking for people to volunteer with our homeless brothers and sisters at Bethel Lutheran Church at the day center Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Catholic Charities has partnered with Bethel Lutheran Church to provide a day resource center for homeless individuals in Madison through September 2017. We are currently looking for help in the Clothing Closet (organizing and distributing), as a Guest Advocate (organizing activities and socializing), or in the Computer Lab (help with technology, researching jobs opportunities, applying, and creating a job board). Volunteers must be over 18 years old. Morning or afternoon shifts are available M/W/F between 8:00 am-4:00 pm.
The Beacon, a permanent homeless day resource center, will be opening in October 2017 and we are accepting volunteer applications now. Please contact Tami Fleming, Volunteer Coordinator, at 608-826-8022 or firstname.lastname@example.org to become a volunteer for the resource centers or if you have any questions.
Are you interested in working with adults with developmental disabilities? Volunteer in a fun, fast-paced environment and help others achieve personal successes. Our Community Connections center in Janesville has volunteer opportunities in our leisure day program for adults with developmental disabilities. As a volunteer, you will work with our staff to assist participants with daily community integration or recreation. This could mean one day you go to the park and to the movies the next. Explore your talents for arts and crafts on a Wednesday and celebrate football season on a Friday! Joel Schenk at (608) 758-8180 or email at email@example.com for more information.
